Wedgewood signed

The New Jersey Devils have signed Prospect goaltender Scott Wedgewood to a three year Entry Level Contract.

Best known for his Bronze Medal actions for team Canada at the WJC this year, Scott Wedgewood will be great for the New Jersey Devils. Currently in his 4th season in the OHL, this 19 year old goaltender is currently putting up great numbers. Playing for the Plymouth Whalers, Wedgewood has a 28-9-3 record with 2.97GAA and 0.912SV%. Wedgewood has fought his way to bring the Whalers to 1st in not only their conference, but in all of the OHL (tied with the London Knights for both).

In the OHL goalie rankings, Wedgewood holds 13th for GAA, 10the for SV%, 6th for wins, 8th for shutouts and 9th for saves.

With Brodeur getting ever so close to retirement and Hedberg also getting older, Wedgewood is the next best internal option for net hands down. The 6-foot, 192 pound goaltender likely will have another season to further his development as Brodeur is hinting towards another season in the NHL. Wedgewood was drafted in the 3rd round by the Devils 84th overall.

New Jersey signing rating: B+, great prospect signed and ready to prepare for replacing Brodeur.
