The Pacific division is providing some excellent hockey as of late and will hopefully continue that way. The standings are close and it looks like maybe 3 teams will get in to the playoffs. With 4 teams for 3 spots it is going to be very exciting to watch as we enter the 2nd last full week of the season.

15 Points

1 in 1 out - The Anaheim Ducks have signed goaltender John Gibson to a 3-year entry-level contract. While Goaltender Dan Ellis will have groin surgery keeping him out for 4 - 6 weeks.

New Level - Ducks prospect Emerson Etem scored his 60th goal of the season for the WHL's Medicine Hat Tigers. He now has a total of 61 goals for 107 points in 65 games.

Marathon Men - Saku Koivu played his 1000th career game and was honoured on Wednesday night for his accomplishment. Andrew Cogliano played his 400th career game and has never missed a game in his entire career. Teemu Selanne reached the 1400 point plateau this week.

Hobey Baker Award - Dallas Stars Prospects Reilly Smith and Austin Smith (no relation), are 2 of the 10 nominees for the NCAA Top player award.

Rolling - Although the Dallas Stars have lost 2 straight, they are 7-2-1 in their last 10 and sit atop the Pacific Division.

He's Back - The Stars have activated forward Brenden Morrow off of Injured reserve, he is having an immediate impact on the pesky Stars. He has a goal and an assist in 4 games since returning.

4 Lines - The Los Angeles Kings got a goal from all 4 of their lines in their 4 - 2 win against Nashville on  Saturday night. This excellent for a team that has struggled with goal production.

4 Straight - The Kings have strung together 4 wins in a row to pull within a point of the division lead.

16 - 16 goals in their last 4 games has been a key to recent success for the Kings, they are finally giving Quick and Bernier legitimate goal support.

10 down - San Jose Sharks goaltender Antti Niemi has started 10 consecutive games for the Sharks, going 4-3-3 in those 10 games.

Mr. February - Sharks captain Joe Thornton was named by the club as the Brocade "Sharks Player of the Month" for February.

Advantage - The Sharks may sit in 8th in the Western Conference standing but they have a couple games in hand on most of the teams in front of them.

Milestones - The Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Derek Morris is 5 games away from 1000 in his career. Forward Ray Whitney is 8 points away from 1000 in his career.

Bill Masterson Nominee - Phoenix goaltender Mike Smith is the Coyotes nominee for the Bill Masterson  Memorial Trophy. Smith produced a .952 SV% for the month of February.

Bounce Back - The Coyotes are still struggling in the month of March but are turning it around with just 10 games left on their schedule.

Divisional Games:
1) Anaheim @ San Jose - Monday, March 19
2) Phoenix @ Dallas - Tuesday, March 20
3) San Jose @ Los Angeles - Tuesday, March 20
4) Phoenix @ San Jose - Saturday, March 24

Things to Watch:
1)Divisional games - Huge this week with just 10 games to go, especially for San Jose who has 4 divisional games this week
2)Ray Whitney - Could hit the milestone this week.
3)Kings O - Kings are starting to produce when it counts.
4)Mike Smith - Power to steal games by himself
5)Division lead - There are 4 teams within a span of 2 points for the division lead.
