Mr. Hockey 2012
The Minnesota Mr. Hockey award is given to the most outstanding high school senior in the state of Minnesota. The award winners are reviewed and chosen by some NHL scouts and Division 1 coaches. Now you have to be saying, well who cares? It's high school hockey. Well, these are not nobodys....at least they won't be.
Let's look at some previous winners. Two years ago, in 2010, Nick Bjugstad won, and now he is a top Florida Panthers prospect. Next, in 2009, we got Nick Leddy, currently playing great hockey as a Chicago Blackhawk. Ryan McDonaugh won it in 2007, he is currently playing for the number one seed in the Eastern Conference which is the New York Rangers. Even Paul Martin won it in 2000, he's currently playing for the Penguins, so clearly the winners are not to be nobodys for long.
Now this year's winner is Justin Kloos. Justin this year got the 10th highest points total in state history as he got 103 points (41 goals, 62 assists) in only 31 games with the Lakeville South cougars. As a junior, Kloos got 45 goals and 45 assists for 90 points. This means he finishes his career with 238 points total, ranked 19th in all-time scoring for the state. The 5-foot-9, 177 pound Kloos is committed to university of Minnesota in the fall.
Expect him to be drafted this draft like the others before him.
"A remarkable honor" - Kloos on winning Mr. Hockey
