Leo A Leaf?

Leo Komarov for KHL champions Dynamo Moscow
Could the Toronto Maple Leafs be adding someone up front for the new season? If Dynamo Moscow forward Leo Komarov gets his way, then the Leafs will have a new player.

Currently playing for Finland at the IIHF World Hockey Championship, Komarov feels he is ready to make the jump to the NHL.

The 25-year-old has spent the last three seasons in Moscow and 4 years playing pro hockey in Finland prior to the KHL. He is no stranger to pro level hockey and could possible be useful for such a struggling club.

Komarov registered 80 points in 175 games career games for Dynamo Moscow. He is seen as a hardworking grinder that plays similar to countrymen Jarkko Ruutu. Leafs GM Brian Burke is a fan of Komarov's play style referring to him as explosive and dynamic.

He was drafted by the Leafs in the 6th round back in 2006. He still has one year left on his KHL contract, which could stand in the way of him going to Toronto. There is reportedly an out clause in his contract that could allow him to move to Toronto.

The Leafs need a shake up in their system after missing the playoffs for nearly a decade straight. Komarov could be the beginning of change in Toronto. He may not be a top scorer but he has the kind of mentality that the Leafs need. His work ethic is something that Toronto has been lacking and needs more of.

Although the addition of another out of market player could stir up problems, Komarov would be a huge plus in Toronto.
