IIHF World Championships 2012 - Team Germany Preview


Team Germany ended up finished 7th after a tough 5-2 loss in the quarter-finals vs Sweden (who ended up finishing 2nd). Team Germany has been placed in Group S (Stockholm) with Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Russia, and Sweden. Team Germany is facing Italy first tomorrow, (Friday, May 4th) at 12:15. The rest of their schedule for the preliminary rounds are:

Sunday, May 6th at 8:15 vs Latvia
Tuesday, May 8th at 8:15 vs Russia
Wednesday, May 9th at 8:15 vs Sweden
Saturday, May 12th at 4:15 vs Denmark
Sunday, May 13th at 8:15 vs Norway
Tuesday, May 15th at 4:15 vs Czech Republic



Team Germany has 13 returning players from last year's roster. The more noticeable returnees are John Tripp who scored 3 goals and 1 assist for 4 points in 7 games, Kevin Lavallee who recorded 1 goal and 3 assists for 4 points in 7 games, and Felix Schultz who scored 3 goals and 1 assist for 4 points in 7 games along with starting goalie Dennis Endras.
