On April 9th, the Columbus Blue Jackets have extended forward Cody Bass to one year, two-way contract.
25 year old Cody Bass has been up and down between the NHL and AHL since the 2007-08 season. In his AHL career, Bass has 21 goals, 29 assists for 50 points in 194 games with 359 penalty minutes and a +/- rating of -25. In the NHL, Bass has 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points along with 66 penalty minutes in 48 career games. Originally an Ottawa Senator 2005 draft pick (4th round, 94th overall) Bass would later leave the Sens once his contract was up last offseason. That same offseason the Blue Jackets would sign the forward to a one year two way deal.
At 6-foot-1, 213 pounds Cody Bass is a building on skates and he likes to take advantage of that. He is a great hitter and he never backs down from a challenge. He has great defensive capabilities and is good at faceoffs. Bass is one of those go to PK guys with some scoring ability as well.
Jackets signing rating: C+, good prospect that has not been able to prove himself yet.
