Chris Wagner Signs a Contract

On April 4th, Chris Wagner signed a 3 year Entry Level Contract with the Anaheim Ducks.

Wagner (20) has played 2 seasons for Colgate University in the ECAC. Wagner kept himself quiet his rookie season recording 9 goals and 10 assists for 19 points and 26 penalty minutes in 41 games. However in this season (his sophomore season) Wagner exploded getting himself 17 goals and 34 assists for 51 points with 69 penalty minutes in 38 games. Prior to his two seasons with Colgate University, Wagner played two seasons with the South Shore Kings of the EJHL where he won the Offensive Player of The Year and the Most Valuable Player of The Year.

Wagner was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the 5th round, 122nd overall in the 2010 draft and is quickly looking like a steal. Wagner is exceptional at faceoffs and is willing to play physically when needed. His versatility is very useful and most likely will be the aspect that would help him the most in making the Ducks lineup. Though he got plenty of points in the ECAC he likely isn't going to be a real scorer in the NHL until some more development occurs, however his depth will be great for the Ducks and will convince them to give him looks at the NHL level.

Ducks Signing rating: C+, great upside and great depth. However if I was rating them drafting him where they did, it would be an A+.
