Chris Kreider Signs

Today, 2012 NCAA Champion Chris Kreider has signed a 3 year Entry Level Contract with the New York Rangers.

Kreider (20) has just finished his third season playing for Boston College in the NCAA (H-East). During his rookie season, Kreider scored 15 goals and 8 assists for 23 points in 38 games along with 26 penalty minutes. During his sophomore season, Kreider recorded basically the same amount in less games scoring 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in 32 games with 37 penalty minutes. This season he stepped it up. Kreider racked up 22 goals and 23 assists for 45 points along with 66 penalty minutes in 44 games.

Kreider is a speedy forward who has proven that he can have an eye for the net when needed. Being 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, Kreider is a brick wall when using his size.

The New York Rangers will have their 2009 1st round pick (19th overall) join the team for the 1st round of the playoffs. Kreider will eat up the 1st year of his contract while playing for the Rangers during the playoffs. The biggest question in this signing is whether or not he can be playoff ready in time for his debut in the NHL playoffs and whether or not he can take the pressure of having his debut during the NHL playoffs.

Rangers Signing Rating: B-, Great signing, but losing a year of the contract will be painful.

What do you think of the signing?
