Blue Jackets sign Drazenovic

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed forward; Nick Drazenovic for a one year, two-way contract. He will be able to be sent down from the Blue Jackets and called up from the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League without having to clear waivers at any point.

Drazenovic, now 25 years old,  was selected 171st overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2005 NHL draft. He played for the St. Louis AHL affiliate; Peoria Rivermen for four seasons. He had 70 goals and 90 assists in 278 regular season games over those four seasons. He made his NHL debut for the St. Louis Blues on November 11th, 2010 against the Nashville Predators. He has zero points in three career NHL games.

This past season he played for the Springfield Falcons where he scored 13 times and added 28 assists for 41 points in 41 games. He was third on the team in assists, fourth in points and fifth on the team with five power-play goals.

Columbus Signing Rating: C+ , Most likely will not make a big impact at the NHL level but may be great for years to come in the AHL
