Canes Re-Sign Tlusty

The Carolina Hurricanes have re-signed the 24 year old forward, Jiri Tlusty to a two year deal worth 3.2 million dollars. The deal will pay Tlusty 1.5 million next year and for the 2013-2014 he will earn 1.7 million dollars.

Jiri Tlusty was selected 13th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2006 NHL draft. He played in the Leafs organization from 2006 to 2009. As he did not pan out as the Leafs had hoped, he was traded to Carolina on December 3rd, 2009 in exchange for prospect; Phillippe Paradis.

Tlusty had his best season as a NHL player this past year. He played in 79 games and scored 17 goals and added 19 assists for 36 points.

Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford is very fond of Tlusty as he stated at the press conference, "Jiri had a very good season and showed that he can contribute as a top-end NHL forward. He should continue to be an important part of the Hurricanes coming off of his career year."
