The St. Louis Blues have finally taken over 1st place in the division from the Detroit Red Wings, and it doesn't look like they will be looking to give that up anytime soon as they have won 5 games in a row and are now first place in the entire NHL. The Red Wings are now in 4th, followed by Nashville in 5th and the Blackhawks in 6th place. The Columbus Blue Jackets remain as the basement team in the West but have been looking better with a .500 record in the past ten games.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just in Time - Blackhawks should have captain, Jonathan Toews back in the line-up Tuesday. This comes at a crucial time as the Blackhawks need to be successful down the stretch to ensure they make the playoffs.

Take that LA - JJ scored against his former team, the Los Angeles Kings last week and led the Blue Jackets to a win over the Kings. JJ is finally in a place where he is recongnized as the go to defenseman for offensive output. He should flourish in Columbus.

Being Re-United = Success - The Kostitsyn brother are on fire, since they have been re-united in Nashville when the Habs traded Andrei there at the deadline. Andrei has 3 goals and 3 assists in 5 games with the Predators, and Sergei has 3 points in his last 2 games, playing on the same line as Andrei.

Jaro Halak - He has won his past 8 starts with the St. Louis Blues. He is the hottest goalie in the NHL right now, he has only given up 11 goals over that stretch, and not once giving up more than two goals.

Andy Mc - Andy McDonald has been a huge boost to the Blues roster since he has come back from injury. He has 17 points in 19 games and has 6 points in his last 4 games.

Injury Woes in Detroit - The Red Wings currently have injuries to 7 regulars; Datstyuk, Eaves, Bertuzzi, Lidstrom, Ericsson, Kindl and Howard.

Schwartz Gets a Contract - He left Colorado College today as he signed a pro contract with the St. Louis Blues, he is expected to make his NHL debut tomorrow.

Alex Radulov playing for the Preds in 2006.
Radulov? - If Alexander Radulov returns to the Nashville Predators for a remainder of the season that will be a massive boost to their team. He still has one year left on his current entry contract and  if he returns he will use up.

Bad Season Continues - Blue Jackets goaltender, Steve Mason, is currently day-to-day with a lacerated hand, so Curtis Sanford will most likely continue to start in goal.

Making the First Splash - The Preds made the first signing of the college free agent period as they signed forward Jack MacLellan out of Brown University.

Busy Man - Detroit winger Gustav Nyquist played in three games from Friday to Sunday. He played the first two days with the Red Wings but was sent down on Sunday and played Sunday evening for Grand Rapids of the AHL. He was called up by the Red Wings earlier today, as he will head to his fifth city in five days.

No Lidstrom? Smith is Shining - Detroit defenseman, Brendan Smith has played 9 games since being called up in February. He has 1 goal and 4 assists along with being +4 and recording 13 penalty minutes in those 9 games.

Home Has an Advantage - Ray Emery has not lost in regulation at home yet this year, posting a 10-0-2 record. The Blackhawk fans just wish he could duplicate that success on the road.

Divisional Woes - Yes, this division is stacked with talent but that is no excuse for the Blue Jackets to have a 3-15-2 record in divisional games. The Blue Jackets have not had a winning record against divisional opponents in all 11 years that they have been in the NHL.

Blackhawks New Tough Guy - The Chicago Blackhawks have found a new tough guy, as center Brandon Bollig has fought four times in six games since being called up.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Who to Watch:

The Kostitsyn's - They are both on fire since being re-united as teammates, can they keep it up?
Jaroslav Halak - Has won 8 in a row and is showing no signs of slowing down. Now has a 1.84 GAA and a .928 save percentage along with 6 shutouts.
Kevin Shattenkirk - The defenseman has hit stride in St. Lu, recording 9 points in his last 7 games.

Joey Mac - He has been doing great since taking over from injured Jimmy Howard, but can he keep the Wings near the top?

Jack Johnson - The go to defenseman now in Columbus, has 4 points in 8 games since joining the team in the Carter trade.
