Whatever Happened To? - Rob Schremp

Arguably one of the most skilled players in the game.

Since his OHL years playing for The London Knights and The Mississauga Icedogs Rob Schremp has been full of character and has been a youtube sensation. He proceeded to be picked in the 1st round (25th overall) of the 2004 entry draft by the Edmonton Oilers, and would continue with the Knights to win the Memorial Cup the following year. In  his final year, he lit up the OHL, posting a total of 145 points in 57 games. Rob Schremp made his NHL debut in the 2006-07 season, but for just one game. Edmonton continued to use him for only a handful of games a season until the 2009-10 season where he was claimed off waivers by the New York Islanders. He then would play for the Islanders and get 25 points in the 44 games he played for the club that season. His next season with the Islanders he would post 22 points in 45 games with the Islanders before being sent down to the AHL for a few games. On his way back up the Atlanta Thrashers decided to pick him up off waivers. Rob Schremp would finish the season with the Thrashers getting 4 points in 18 games there. As Atlanta was busy preparing the move to Winnipeg this last offseason Schremp would not get an offer. Schremp then continued into the free agency month and signed a contract with Modo Hockey of the SEL.

Within the SEL Rob Schremp is currently third on his team with 33 points in 45 games. Reasons why he wasn't able to stick in the NHL is his lack of work ethic, poor defensive coverage, lack of discipline, average skating and lacks strength. The 25 year old forward still has plenty of potential and we can still see him returning to the NHL to make a considerable impact as long as he works hard to improve these issues.
