Gilbert for Schultz

Minnesota Just Got Better Hair

The Trade: Tom Gilbert traded from Edmonton to Minnesota for Nick Schultz

Minnesota gets a 29 year old defenseman with good offensive output (17 points in 47 games). Tom Gilbert normally gets 30-40 points in a season with 45 in the season of 2008-09. What is great for Minnesota and Gilbert is that he is a Minnesota born, meaning he will love to play there and should put up some good offensive numbers to help Minnesota Wild as they push to try for the playoffs once again.

Edmonton gets a 29 year old defensive defenseman with little offensive output (3 points in 62 games) but good defensively. Schultz is from Saskatchewan and said he grew up watching the Edmonton Oilers. So just like Gilbert is happy with the team he is traded to due to personal reasons.

Minnesota trade rating: A-, gets some offensive improvment on their blueline

Edmonton trade rating: B+, gets a change of scenery in their blueline

Really just a trade for the interest of both players and to just mix up the blue lines of both teams to try to make a positive difference in both teams.
