Dominic Moore to San Jose

The Trade: Tampa Bay trades Dominic Moore and a 7th round pick to San Jose for the MIN 2nd round pick (2012)

Tampa Bay gets an pick upgrade to help their much needed rebuild. Tampa also deals Moore who is a pending UFA. With this deal and the Meszaros deal of last season Tampa Bay now holds three different 2nd round picks for the upcoming draft with the possibility of another if a Kubina trade does indeed happen.

San Jose gets a great depth centerman for playoff rental. Moore will most likely work the 4th line. Moore is truly a playoff performer. Moore had 11points in 18 playoff games last playoffs for Tampa Bay. San Jose most likely will not resign this centerman in the upcoming offseason.

Tampa Bay trade rating: B+, turned a pending UFA into a big upgrade for the upcoming draft

San Jose trade rating: B+, traded a draft pick that they didn't need for a great playoff centerman

Tampa Bay continues to work on their rebuild as they collect picks, and San Jose plans ahead for the playoffs. What I see from this deal is that Tampa Bay will be dealing it's players for more picks and prospects and San Jose is looking to make small playoff preparations. I feel that San Jose will not go for Rick Nash as this trade shows they want to make minor preparations and not wreck the chemistry of the top 2 lines that they have.
