Grossman To Philly For Picks

The Trade: Nicklas Grossman traded from Dallas to Philladelphia for LAK 2nd (2012) and MIN 3rd (2013)

Philadelphia gets a great depth defenseman to help ease the pain of losing Pronger. Grossman, who has 5 points in 52 games, will most likely be playing the bottom defensive pair for Philly. Grossman has a 1.625mil contract for this season, then is a UFA this offseason. So most likely is just a rental for playoffs.

Dallas gets some much needed picks to help with the rebuild. LAK is currently 14th in the league and Minnesota is currently 21st, so both picks are expected to be mid ranged in their rounds. Grossman is a UFA this summer and most likely would not have resigned

Philladelphia trade rating: B-, Got a nice cheap defensive defenseman to help replace Pronger for playoffs

Dallas trade rating: B+, Got good value back for pending UFA Grossman and will help their rebuild.

This deal shows that Philly is clearly looking to fill in their gaps and not wait for their what if's for injury returnees. This also shows that Dallas feels that they are not ready for a playoff push and have become sellers at the deadline, gaining assets for this year's draft.
